Pika Picker

A Pika is a small mountain dwelling mammal that lives in the high rocky mountain slopes. They do not hibernate but collect grasses and alpine flowers in the summer and fall to store underground for food to last through the long winter months.

In my design for “Pika Picker,” I wanted to show the pika sitting high on top of his den among the stones, grasses and wildflowers of the mountain slope he calls home. This Pika has proudly picked a mouthful of grass to be stored for the winter months.
