“The original commission for Roundbottomus Hippopotamus was designed for a young children’s park in Little Rock, AR. The benefactors wanted a fun, low level, hands on interactive, piece that is engaging to a young age group.
The hippo has beautiful round shapes, volumes and curves. Perfect for kids. These shapes also work beautifully with my style.
Many of my sculptures titles are a play on words and I love the word hippopotamus, it is fun and silly – a child’s word. I wanted a title that went with the thought process of this fun sculpture, one that completed the story with a smile. Hence, “Roundbottomus Hippopotamus.” I had so much fun creating this sculpture, Enjoy.”
